This week marks an exciting milestone for Sean Kirtz and Coach K Wrestling School as every athlete from its daytime wrestling academy competes at the AAU Scholastic National Duals at the Broward County Convention Center.
The program features some of Florida’s most accomplished female wrestlers, including the state’s No. 1-ranked wrestler at 145 pounds, the No. 2-ranked athletes at both 130 and 235 pounds, and the top-ranked middle school wrestler in Florida at 235 pounds.
Leading the effort is longtime coach Sean Kirtz, who is guiding two South Florida all-star teams consisting of nearly 40 athletes. For Kirtz, the event represents much more than competition.
“One of the things I’m most proud of is helping create opportunities for talented girls who otherwise may not have been able to afford participation at a national event,” Kirtz said. “These teams have a legitimate chance to compete for national championships.”
Sean’s Coach K Wrestling School has developed a reputation for its full-time approach to athlete development. Many of its wrestlers dedicate between eight and twelve hours each day to training and recovery.
The athletes begin with strength and conditioning sessions three times per week at IHP, followed by mobility and recovery work, additional fitness training at LA Fitness, and technical wrestling practice each afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
“Our goal is not only to develop elite wrestlers, but also disciplined and confident young women,” Kirtz said. “We want to help our athletes reach their full potential both on and off the mat.”
Girls wrestling continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, and South Florida has emerged as a major center for developing nationally ranked competitors. Coach K Wrestling School has been at the forefront of that growth, providing world-class training opportunities while fostering a positive and supportive environment for young athletes.
With multiple nationally competitive wrestlers and two talented all-star teams in action this week, Sean Kirtz hopes to bring home national titles while continuing to elevate girls wrestling throughout South Florida.
